Hobbton High School baseball standout, Bennett Darden, has decided to play baseball for William Peace University.

In his remarks, Hobbton Athletic Director and baseball coach Jason Fussell commented, “Bennett is a three-sport athlete here at Hobbton. His contributions went a long way in getting the Wildcats sports program where it is. Unlike a lot of people, Bennett took the time to research the school that would give him what he wanted for a life career. In his first year he will be their designated hitter. His next three years will be full time first base.”

Darden thanked his family, his coaches and his teammates for their support and enabling him to be where he is.

Darden had an outstanding senior season with a batting average of .667. He scored 26 runs on 36 plate appearances with 29 RBIs. He had 12 doubles, two triples and two home runs. He had 17 stolen bases.

Over his career at Hobbton, he achieved a batting average of .510. He scored 46 runs on 75 hits with 66 RBIs, including 27 doubles, two triples and two home runs.
